Tips to a Greener Home
1. Change all of your light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs. They have a much lower watt rating than traditional light bulbs, but still put out a very bright light. This is because traditional light bulbs produce more heat than light, but CFL lights produce more light than heat.
2. Seal all cracks in doors and windows with either caulk or weather stripping. A ton of heat can seep through even the smallest cracks in your house.
3. Turn off the AC when your not going to need it. The AC unit is one of the biggest users of electricity in your home. Even better yet purchase a thermostat with a timer on and set it to only run 8 hours a day.
4. Turn on ceiling fans. A ceiling fan can make a room feel much cooler than it really is which saves you from switching on your AC.
5. Turn off light s when your not using them. This one seems pretty obvious but many people don't do it. make it a habit to turn off the lights when you leave a room.
